12 week ultrasound

This is the baby at 12 weeks 0 days.  We went in for the Early Screening that screens for Down's Syndrome, Trisomy 13, and Trisomy 18 yesterday.  According to the Dr., the ultrasounds looked good, but we will know more in the next week or so when they get the bloodwork back.  The baby's heartbeat was beating a strong 159 beats per minute and the NT measurement was 1.4, which according to my internet research is a good measurement.  We go back to the Dr on Feb 22 at 8:15am and will schedule the "Big Ultrasound" for a month after that.  At that ultrasound, we have the option of finding out the sex, but we have decided not to, so for all of you that want to know, you'll just have to wait.  Believe me, I want to know as bad as anyone, but only because I am such a planner.  We will all know soon enough!  Keep checking back for updates.  I will try to update as much as possible with baby news and things that Kameron is doing.

Week 11

Your fetus currently enjoys a 1:1 ratio between body and head, and has skin so transparent that blood vessels show right through. But, fingers and toes are no longer webbed, and hair follicles, tooth buds and nail beds are forming -- setting up a significantly more attractive future.

It's T-Ball Time!!!

We signed Kameron up to play t-ball today.  The season runs from March 6 to May 15.  Practices start the first week of February, so be on the lookout for pics and videos of him playing.  He is super excited to be playing.  I hope the excitement lasts the whole season!

With bones and cartilage starting to form and vital organs beginning to function, baby is making major progress. Body length will almost double in the next three weeks, and arm joints are now working. (Soon, legs will too.)

Being a Stay at Home Mom

I was reading one of my friends blogs and came across this poem. I am so very thankful that I've been given the opportunity to stay at home with such a wonderful little boy and this little one that is on the way.  Being able to watch Kameron grow and learn has been such a blessing.  I can't wait to do the same with this little one that will be here in August.

The Little Child I'm Building

By Valerie Martin Bailey

Great rulers build vast kingdoms, but

Those kingdoms rise and fall.

Famed engineers build bridges, and

Skyscrapers, soaring tall.

The celebrated of this world

Build reputations, grand,

While financiers build bank accounts

And power to command.

Egyptians built the pyramids

That stand until this day;

But even these amazing works

Will crumble in decay.

Day-dreamers build on fantasy

And hope their dreams come true.

The prejudiced build walls of hate -

Select who passes through.

But I'm building one small child,

Whose worth can't be appraised;

My heart is held in those small hands

So trustingly upraised.

A treasure God has given me -

So I must build with care,

For this is an eternal soul -

It's precious, priceless...rare.

When kingdoms and great works of art

Have molded into dust;

When wealth and power dissipate

As all earth's treasures must,

The little child that I have built

Must stand before God's throne,

So let my child be firmly built...

On Christ, the Cornerstone.
