We have a busy week ahead of us this week. Michael goes back to work tomorrow. We are really going to miss having him at home with us during the day. It's been so nice having him home for the past three weeks.
Kameron starts preschool on Tuesday. We went to meet his teachers last Wednesday morning. He was shy to begin with, but did a great job warming up to them. He's going to have a great year making new friends and learning.
Katalina is doing better with her eating. She's become a little piggy lately. I am so happy and can't wait until her next weight check. I'm curious as to how much she has gained.
I have Parent Orientation tomorrow at Kam's new preschool. I can't believe that my little boy is almost 4 and is now attending preschool. The time truly does fly when you're having fun. He is growing up so quickly and has turned into a great big brother.
Kameron makes sure that we know when Katalina is crying and is always telling us to go and get her. He loves to get where she can see him and try to explain what different things are. He smiled at her this morning and told her that the things in his mouth were his teeth and she would get some sometime. Kam pointed out to Kat the other night that this was our house and she was going to stay forever with us. He just loves being a big brother to Kat and being able to explain things to her. I love that he has such a great attachment to his little sister.

Lots of smiles
We are getting lots of smiles from Ms. Kat today. She's also sleeping a lot better in her bed. I'm hoping that I can get her photo shoot pics back this week and can post some online. I can't wait to see them!

She latched!!!
After many attempts to get Katalina to learn how to latch, she finally did yesterday morning. She is now becoming a nursing champ. I am so glad that she finally figured it out and hope that now, we can start working on not falling asleep while she nurses and needing to nurse so often.
Kameron is doing great as a big brother. He loves to get down on Kat's playmat and play with her. He shows her what each toy does and tries to explain to her how to play. I just love to watch them interact. He's very protective of his "baby" and loves to come up and kiss and love on her. She is one very loved little girl.
I am especially enjoying the one-on-one time that I am getting with Kameron when Katalina sleeps. We will cuddle on the couch and talk or read. He is such a loving and understanding little boy. I am so thankful that I have such wonderful kids. Kameron was so understanding when I was pregnant and just didn't feel like doing much. He would be happy just to be cuddling with me. Now that I've had Katalina, he loves to make sure that I have everything I need. He brings me anything I ask him to, and makes sure that daddy takes good care of me. Michael made peach smoothies last night, and Kameron made sure that I got one before he even took a drink out of his. If Michael didn't make me one, he was offering to share his without me even having to ask.
Katalina also had her first professional photo shoot yesterday morning. The photographer told me that she was the easiest baby that she's ever had the chance to photograph. Kat did great. We should have a "Sneak Peek" of the pics in the next couple of days and the CD with all the edited shots in about 2 weeks. I can't wait to see them. The few unedited ones that I did get to see were great! Katalina slept through the majority of the shoot, so she just looked like a little angel. I did manage to get peed and spit up on, but I should have known better than to feed her without having put a diaper on her. Oops! I'll know next time. I'll post some of the pics once I get them.

Wow! I haven't posted in a while.
Well, as you can see I haven't posted in a while. We are now proud to announce the arrival of Katalina Grace Saldivar to our family. She was born on August 3, 2010 at 8:17 am weighing in at 8 lbs. 12 oz and is 21 inches long.
I went in for a scheduled c-section on 8/3 due to Katalina being transverse (laying sideways) and back down at my 36 week appt. We were scared that the doctor would have to do a classical c-section (vertical incision) instead of the now more commonly used bikini cut. Thankfully, by 37 weeks, Katalina had turned head down and it was safer to deliver. We went ahead and kept the 8/3 date because at that point I was in so much pain and ready to meet my little bundle of joy. Thankfully, she held on and waited until my parents could get in town.
Michael and I went into the hospital on 8/3 at 6:00 am to get prepped for the 8:00 am surgery. Mom and dad stayed at home with Kameron until about 8 and then brought him up to the hospital to wait on us and to meet his little sister. It took the nurses 4 attempts to finally get the IV started in my arm. Once we finally got that set, I was moved to the OR to get the spinal set before Michael was allowed in. The first spinal went in perfectly, but did not take. It numbed my feet, but I could feel everything else, so they had to do a second spinal. It took a long time to take and we were scared that they were going to have to knock me completely out to do the surgery. Once the spinal finally took, Michael was allowed into the OR and the surgery began. About halfway through, my blood pressure started to drop. I remember looking up at the monitor and seeing that it was 75/36. I was feeling like crap and later found out that they were pumping me full of meds to get my blood pressure back up. I cried when I heard the dr tell me, "It's a Girl!" Even though I had had the feeling that the baby was a girl all along, it just made me so happy to finally have one of each.
Kam is doing great being a big brother. His favorite saying right now is, "Here we go again" anytime Katalina cries. It's so funny to see his expression. Right now, he's downstairs with daddy and Kat telling her that "It's Okay" everytime she starts to fuss. He's doing so well!
We've been home for 2 days now and have had to take Katalina in for weight checks both days. She dropped a pound while we were in the hospital, so they are wanting to keep an eye on her weight. Since yesterday, she has gained back 2 oz. I'm hoping that she continues to gain and that we won't have to do these weight checks much more.
I will try to post some pics in the next couple of days. Mom and dad got some good ones that I would love to get posted as soon as they email them to me. I'll be especially sure to post Katalina's first Razorback pics that we took last night.
